Canada’s Economic Response Plan – March 30, 2020

Teledentistry – March 28, 2020
For those of you interested in doing Teledentistry. Numerous companies were investigated by several MGE clients. They evaluated cost vs. functionality. The plus of Teledentistry is that it’s an easy way for a patient of record or new patient to check in with you and for you to evaluate whether you should see them in the office for urgent/emergency dental care.
You should of course do your own research on this – but the company that seems to “check all of the boxes” so far is Doxy.me. Note: MGE has no affiliation with Doxy.me and this is not a paid endorsement. This is simply a recommendation from a number of clients – so we wanted to post it here.
If you have concerns on billing, HIPPA etc. , the ADA posted a great FAQ on this. Read it here.
There’s also general guidance on Teledentistry on the ADA’s Covid-19 resources page. Read it here.
New CDC Guidelines for Dental Offices – March 27, 2020
The CDC has updated the guidelines, recommending that dental facilities postpone elective procedures, surgeries, and non-urgent dental visits, and prioritize urgent and emergency visits and procedures now and for the coming several weeks.
Small Business Administration (SBA) Low-Interest Loans – March 24, 2020
We’ve had few clients asking about access to capital or funds to help get them through this time. Currently, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest loans to all small businesses in the U.S. up to $2 million dollars. These funds can be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the virus’s impact. The interest rate is 3.75% for small businesses.
Now, in the meantime, Congress is going back and forth on a stimulus package that among many other things would enhance the SBA Loan program.
